💬 Reviews and feedback
Imagine a TV show that leaves a bitter aftertaste, not because of its craft beer theme, but due to its lackluster execution. “Brews Brothers” on Netflix falls flat like a poorly poured pint, failing to capture the essence of a successful sitcom. If you’re considering diving into this series, brace yourself for a rollercoaster ride that might leave you feeling more queasy than quenched.
From the very first sip, it’s evident that “Brews Brothers” struggles to find its flavor. The character development feels as shallow as a kiddie pool on a scorching summer day. Adam and Chewy, the brewing siblings at the center of the chaos, come off more like caricatures than relatable leads. It’s like trying to enjoy a fine IPA but ending up with watered-down swill instead.
The attempt to mimic the success of shows like “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” falls flat, much like an overcarbonated beer that fizzes out before you can savor it. The humor feels forced, landing more eye rolls than laughs. It’s akin to someone telling a joke with perfect timing but forgetting the punchline altogether.
As the episodes drag on, Adam becomes increasingly insufferable while Chewy spirals down a path of irritation. It’s like watching a beer go flat right before your eyes – disappointing and utterly avoidable. The sibling dynamic lacks depth and nuance, making it hard to invest in their journey to save their brewery from impending doom.
The show’s attempt at raunchiness with crude jokes, cursing, and excessive drinking feels more desperate than daring. It’s like trying too hard to impress your friends with your homebrewed concoction only for them to politely decline after one sip.
Despite its shortcomings, “Brews Brothers” manages to be somewhat entertaining at times. It serves as easy background noise for an evening where you don’t want to think too much and just go with the flow. However, just like chugging light beer on a hot day might seem refreshing initially but leaves you wanting something more substantial in the end.
Binge-watching Tips:
- If you decide to give “Brews Brothers” a shot, consider approaching it with lowered expectations and maybe some actual craft beer by your side for moral support.
- Try not to compare it too much with other successful sitcoms; let it stand or fall on its own questionable merits.
So, should you stream “Brews Brothers” or skip it altogether? Well, if you’re looking for something light-hearted that doesn’t require much brainpower and can overlook glaring flaws for moments of fleeting amusement, then go ahead and give it a watch – just don’t expect top-tier quality or depth in this case.
In conclusion, “Brews Brothers” is like that experimental beer flavor that sounded intriguing on paper but disappoints upon tasting – lacking complexity and leaving you yearning for something more satisfying. So grab your remote control instead of a pint glass for this one unless you enjoy lukewarm sitcom brews without much bite.

⚠️ Explanation (Spoiler)
In the eighth episode of Brews Brothers season 1 titled “The Trink,” the story takes an unexpected turn as Wilhelm and Adam, the two brewing brothers, receive a lucrative offer from a major distributor to expand their business and sell their beer on a large scale. Initially excited about the offer, things take a twist when the distributor confuses Adam for Wilhelm and expresses their reluctance to do business with Wilhelm due to his perceived rudeness and ban from Oregon. This revelation leads to a moment of decision for Adam, who ultimately turns down the deal to continue brewing with his brother out of love for the craft.
However, their joy is short-lived as they discover at a beer festival that the distributor has copied their branding and beer, exploiting the lack of trademark protection. To make matters worse, they learn that the distributor has hired others to replicate their beer-making process. The brothers’ tent at the festival is burned down, leading to a public confrontation between them and eventually to Adam quitting. Wilhelm faces additional setbacks as he loses his lease due to food hygiene issues.
The episode concludes with Adam expressing his desire to start a new brewery with Wilhelm despite their financial constraints. Sarah, a character who intends to build her own business, proposes to join forces with the brothers to create a new brewery, with her taking the lead in decision-making. The trio agrees and sets off to meet with monks at a monastery, hinting at new beginnings for the characters.
This episode showcases the brothers’ intelligence and resilience in the face of adversity, setting the stage for potential future developments in the series. The dynamic between the characters, the challenges they face, and their evolving relationships make for an engaging and entertaining watch, leaving viewers intrigued about what lies ahead for the brewing brothers.

❝ Quotes and Cult
Two rival brothers must work together to keep their brewery in business, but shenanigans keep foaming up their company with chaos.
With their eight-episode Netflix show Brews Brothers.
Brews Brothers has its moments, but predictable plotting and uneven humor make the whole brew fall flat.
The show follows estranged brothers Wilhelm Rodman and the self-described beer snob Adam, who thinks “drinking Bud Light is the most shameful thing I’ve done in my whole life.”
“We certainly wanted an audience, but we didn’t mean to start a pandemic to get the audience,” Greg Schaffer, the showrunner and writer of a few episodes, jokes.
“I think it’s great to be able to let off steam for a half-hour or an hour and get back to real life,” Jeff Schaffer, director of a few episodes and executive-producer, tells InsideHook.
The brothers hope people will watch the show “together” while drinking their favorite beers and reminiscence to the before times, a month ago, when people could socialize inside breweries.
Both of the Schaffers are avid beer drinkers — Greg said he’s a fan of Anderson Valley and Rogue — and when Greg pitched Jeff the idea for the show, Jeff jumped onboard to create his first show with his bro.
“I was instantly interested and just not because the asshole brother was an homage to me,” Jeff says. “I was like, ‘Oh, this seems like a great idea.’ For me, it was the next logical step from The League, because what’s more popular than football? Beer.”
“I consider myself more of the Wilhelm character, who kind of likes all beers,” Greg says. “But at times I catch myself becoming the people we’re trying to make fun of in talking about certain notes and hints of vanilla.”
