In the 2018 Indian Hindi-language action comedy film “Brij Mohan Amar Rahe,” directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, we follow the story of Brij Mohan Gupta, a man in his mid-thirties, who is entangled in a web of deceit and desperation.

Brij, portrayed by Arjun Mathur, leads a double life, having a young mistress named Simmi while being stuck in a tumultuous marriage with Sweety, played by Nidhi Singh. Brij’s hosiery business is failing, and he finds himself drowning in debt. To escape his financial troubles, Brij gets involved in a shady deal with Raghu, a move that only plunges him deeper into trouble.

After a series of unfortunate events and failed attempts to fake his own death, Brij resorts to drastic measures. In a moment of desperation, he decides to kill Raghu and assume his identity to escape his creditors. Brij stages a car accident where he burns Raghu alive, successfully faking his own death in the process.

Under his new identity as Amar Sethi, Brij shaves his head and beard, hides in a remote location with Simmi, and tries to enjoy his ill-gotten gains. However, things take a dark turn when Simmi discovers the stolen money and attempts to flee with it. A violent confrontation between Brij and Simmi ends tragically with her death.

As the police investigate Brij’s disappearance, Inspector Beniwal, played by Manav Vij, becomes suspicious. Sweety’s involvement leads the police to believe that Brij is dead, especially after identifying a burnt body with a gold tooth as his. The authorities conduct the funeral rites for Brij, unaware of the twisted truth.

As the plot thickens, a missing phone report linked to Brij resurfaces, leading to Amar’s arrest. Despite Amar’s attempts to convince the police of his true identity, he is sentenced to life imprisonment for robbery. However, Beniwal strikes a deal with Brij to set him free in exchange for a bribe.

In a comical turn of events, Brij manages to evade Beniwal and escape with the stolen money. The judge, enraged by Brij’s deceit, decides to sentence Amar to death for the murder of Brij, unaware of the intricate web of lies and deception spun by Brij.

The film’s dark and twisted narrative, coupled with its black comedy elements, keeps the audience engaged as Brij navigates through a series of unfortunate events fueled by greed, desperation, and deceit.

The stellar performances by Arjun Mathur, Nidhi Singh, and Manav Vij bring the complex characters to life, adding depth and authenticity to the gripping storyline. The film’s soundtrack, composed by Andrew T. Mackay, complements the mood of the narrative, enhancing the overall viewing experience.
