• Chip learns to roller-skate but gets scared that she’ll hurt herself. Chip and Potato have a fun day out with Grandma in her snazzy new car.
• Chip promises to help Nico on his first day of school — but gets jealous when he makes a new friend. Later, Chip has a tough time in gym class.
• Chip cheers up her neighbors, who are tired of waiting for a fun new slide to be assembled. Potato helps Chip when her show-and-tell object is ruined.
• Chip and Potato sneak outside at night to rescue Deely, the class’s stuffed bear, after leaving him under a tree. Chip has her first piano lesson.
• On Chip’s playdate with Nico, Potato makes friends with baby Bodi. Chip worries that the new babysitter won’t be able to sing her usual bedtime song.
• Chip helps Nico, who’s nervous about acting in the class show. Later, she learns more about the baby her mom is having. Chip and Spud have friends over.
• Chip’s first sleepover at Nico’s house is fun, but she gets sad when it’s time for bed. Potato is sick for Family Fun Day, so Dr. Chip helps her out.
• Chip has her first swimming lesson. Later, she gets in trouble for messing up Spud’s homework and taking a cookie without permission.
• It’s bring-your-kid-to-work day, and Chip heads to the police station with Poppa. Later, Chip and Spud compete in a pumpkin-picking contest.
• On a school trip, Chip is paired up with a classmate she doesn’t like — and then she loses Potato! Afterward, she waits for her baby sister to arrive.
• Chip feels sad when her new sister cries while she holds her. Later, she has to go to an after-school program since Momma’s busy with the baby.
• Chip organizes Grandma’s birthday party but has to change her plans when Grandma brings a friend. Momma’s soccer player pal comes to visit.
• On the day the class butterfly hatches, Chip gets sick with puggy spots. At home, Potato helps distract Chip so she won’t scratch her itches.
• At school, Chip feels bad when she learns Nico made a new friend while she was home sick. On Saturday, she goes for a bike ride with Momma and Tot.
• Chip and Potato share a secret with the Dazzles before they move out of the neighborhood. Chip gets in trouble at school for the first time.
• When Chip feels scared before her first piano exam, Potato helps her relax and be brave. Later, Chip has trouble finishing her homework.
• To cheer up Nico in the hospital, Chip and Potato share their secret, and Potato stays with Nico overnight. Missing Potato, Chip spends time with Tot.
• It’s Chip’s fifth birthday! Hopefully, Nico will be out of the hospital so he can come to her party. At school, Potato gets lost in the snow.

• Chip(voiced by Abigail Oliver; Ava Talbot in the UK dub in season 1 and Megan Heavey in season 2 and onwards in the UK dub), is a friendly, curious, and big-hearted five-year-old pug girl. She is Nico’s best friend and Potato’s BFF.
• Potato(voiced by Andrea Libman) is Chip’s best friend, who is a tiny mouse. Potato keeps herself a secret to everyone else; she appears as a toy when anyone else is around, except for Chip. She gives Chip security and confidence and is her BFF. In the Thanksgiving special, Potato willingly exposed herself although nobody was aware that she was Chip’s toy.

Supporting characters

• Spud(voiced by Chance Hurstfield; Sam Day in the UK dub and Ben Riley in season 2 and onward in the UK dub) is Chip’s older brother. His relationship with his sister is healthy and often gives advice to his sister when she’s having trouble. Spud enjoys skateboarding.
• Little Momma(voiced by Briana Buckmaster; Kate Harbour in the UK dub) is Chip’s mother. Formerly a receptionist, she is now a stay at home mother after having her third puglet, Totsy Tot.
• Little Poppa(voiced by Brian Dobson; Wayne Forester in the UK dub) is Chip’s father. He is a police officer and does most of the house work like cooking whenever he’s off-duty.
• Nico(voiced by Dominic Good) is a panda and Chip’s best friend. By the end of season two, he is one of few people who knows about Potato’s secret.
• Totsy Tot(voice actress not credited) is Chip’s baby sister. Despite getting off on the wrong foot, Chip adores her little sister and even gave her the name “Totsy Tot”. Tot is one of the few characters Potato shows her true self around.
• Grandma Pug(voiced by Christina Jastrzembska) is Chip’s grandmother. Grandma Pug does not live with Chip and her family and often makes visits, but she enjoys seeing her family whenever she has the chance. However in the fourth season, she and her husband moved into Welcome Walk for their new business.
• Stomp and Stamp(voiced by Evan Byarushengo and Scotia Andersen) are a pair of twin elephants. They are Chip’s friends and neighbors. Stomp and Stamp enjoy doing things together and are rarely seen apart.
• Amanda(voiced by Teryl Rothery) is Nico’s mother. She raises both of her sons in Welcome Walk. Her husband Andy does not live with her and travels the world to help people decorate their homes as his job, but he and Amanda still love each other.
• Bodi(voice actor uncredited) is Nico’s baby brother. Bodi is one of the few who’s aware of Potato’s secret, Potato occasionally plays with him whenever they’re alone.
• Mr. Diggerty(voiced by Alessandro Juliani) is the kindergarten teacher of Rainbow Forest School and teaches Chip’s class. He is a fair and dedicated teacher and makes sure that his class is fun and fair for his students. In the Thanksgiving special, his first name is revealed to be “Desmond”.
• Gigglish(voiced by Emma Jayne Maas) is a giraffe and is one of Chip’s friends and neighbors. She’s a sporty giraffe and enjoys any form of outdoor activity. She’s seen doing cartwheels.
• Howie(voiced by Brenden Sunderland) is a hyena. He is mischievous kindergartener at Rainbow Forest School. He likes blowing raspberries and always causes trouble. Despite this, he has a softer side and cares.
• Gordie(voiced by Garry Chalk) is a pug and Grandma Pug’s husband. They got married in the second season of the show, he moved into Welcome Walk with her. Gordie is also a magician.
• Glenda(voiced by Naomi Tan) is a dalmatian and Gordie’s granddaughter.

Chip and Potatois co-produced by WildBrain Studios in Canada and Darrall Macqueen in the United Kingdom. The series’ target demographic is children under seven years old. Maddy Darrall, the co-founder and co-MD at Darrall Macqueen, told C21 regarding the series that “series arcs in preschool animation are simply not done; we want to prove they should be.”

Little Momma and Tot are going to ride a bike to Happyton Park, and Chip wants to come too. With no room in Momma’s bike, Chip uses and learns how to ride Spud’s old bike, with training wheels included. On their way to the park, Potato gets lost and Chip’s training wheels break off.

It’s Parent-Teacher Interview Day and Chip is looking forward to Mr. Diggerty tell her parents that she’s been a perfect student. However, during a quiet assignment, she loses recess for talking a lot. Chip knows Mr. Diggerty will tell Momma and Poppa that, and gets scared about the meeting.

Chip wants to perform a magic trick for her family and Gordie, but can’t do it right. She meets Gordie’s granddaughter, Glenda, who does everything before her. Because Chip is struggling with her trick, Glenda decides to perform for everyone instead.
