Ronald Albert Shroy, who was twenty-three at the time of the attack, emerged as the prime suspect. Shroy, a local resident of Lane County, had relocated to Mesa, Arizona, in 2008. Through re-examining evidence from the crime scene using cutting-edge technology, investigators were able to identify Shroy as the killer. Interestingly, the analysis even provided a visual representation of the murderer and led to DNA matches.
As authorities closed in on Shroy, a dramatic turn of events occurred.
