  • ‎Dancing Quietly (2016) directed by Philipp Eichholtz - Letterboxd

    • Watching this film was too meta for me bc I am an English student trying to study for my German class, and that’s why I randomly picked this movie from the German category on Netflix (see: scene where they pick an English movie to watch). and I, too am also a depressed vegan girl with short, bleached, untoned hair with roots badly showing, whose grandma refuses to adapt to my diet. Idk who’s fucking with my simulation but you got me damn messed up
    • i didn’t expect it to be THAT good! everything felt so real and authentic.
    • Thoughtful portrait of someone trying to get things together; enough fragments of back-story to see the challenges, and even if one plot element was obvious enough, the relationships between characters, particular between Luca and her older classmate, are really nicely done and add some nuance to the plot. Really enjoyed it.
    • I didn’t expect to cry today…
Etwas, was mich kaum berührte. Puhhh.
    • it’s not the best movie but i really enjoyed watching luca and kurt’s friendship,, they had a large age gap but they still connected with each other in a really inocent and genuine way :`)!
    • Trigger warning: Depression, attempted rape, domestic violence, death of a pet. What a beautiful film and so unexpected. I chose Philipp Eichholtz’s Luca tanzt leise because it was partly advertised as a comedy. Really it is not. However, the characters are beautifully crafted and the development is nicely done. Especially the relationships between three generations of women hits a spot: Different rules apply for each of them and the connecting woman is usually bound to lose. Another great one is the one between characters Luca and Kurt. He does not accept her giving up, but pushes just the right buttons, when she needs it. Overall, even though depression is lingering everywhere.. What this really felt is about are boundaries. How… more
